TheIIC Developing Series of Internal Controls Training Programs
Update: January 2012.
TheIIC Chairman announced an update to TheIIC training and certification program. He stated that TheIIC has began development of a series of internal controls training courses that will be the basis of courses that will need to be completed by those not eligible for certification under the grandfathering provisions.
In mid 2012 TheIIC will begin offering what is called the Certification via Curriculum Program. It will entail the completion of a block of courses that will train the candidate in the areas of internal controls and ethics. At the end of each course, the candidate will be required to complete an examination on the material in the course and attain a minimal score of 70. Once the candidate has completed all of the courses and passed all of the examinations, he/she can apply for the CICA or CCS professional designation. The courses must be completed in successive order and will typically take two years to complete. The candidates will be required to join TheIIC as an Associate Member in order to begin the Curriculum.
All of the courses will also be available to members and non members for CPE credit to improve the attendee's internal controls knowledge and skills. The courses will be offered both in live group format and DVD.
As a alternative, candidates may take the full examination in lieu of the Certification via Curriculum Program. The examination will be available in late 2012.
Details on both of the above programs will be released later this year.
